SL pedals were intro'd in 1971 and the SR pedals were intro'd in '74. The SR has different bearing races along with the spindles. In 1982 there was a variation on the Super Record group, called "Super Record goup, steel" or "Super Record, reduced" that sub'd the SL pedal for the SR pedal along with the steel BB for the Ti BB.

The Super Record pedals weren't withdrawn from production, and I've been riding them since '76 without any breakage problem.

No, they were available from distributors long after that; there was no recall. Moreno Argentin won the Colorado Springs Worlds in 1986 on a Bianchi with C-Record and the Super Record pedals and I saw them on his bike at the 1987 Coors Classic too.
