Daniel Artley asked, <snip>

"I've gotten a nice set of GB Coureur Plus calipers for my 1974 Jack Taylor = <snip> However, I've found that the diameter of the brake centerbolt is larger = than the standard that the brake mounting holes were drilled, 1/4" vs. 6 = mm. My question is: Will reaming out the brake holes to fit be a problem = in the future if I go back to the metric standard? "

In my experience, drilling out is a one-way trip: afterwards, it is very hard to re-fit brakes with smaller diameter bolts unless the frame is fitted with brazed-on flats. If you are trying to secure the brake to a round tube, the brake wants to rotate down when the brake is applied. It would be a thin shim, indeed, that would bridge this.

Your choice, Dan!
