The shop in fact did not close, but moved to West Haverstraw, New York. @ 1995 Tom was very ill and his daughter was running the shop along with her son(@15 yrs old). Some of our fellow vultures got in and made major scores. I got there just @ at the end but still did real good. Basically $50.00 a box; whatever was in it! They didn't care/ didn't know. The lease was near and they wanted to sell the business, but for waaaay too much. A real shame. Actually dug through lots of rusty piles in a very moldy basement and unearthed a few goodies including an alloy waterbottle. The shop has moved down the road @ 1/2 mile. Last there 2 years ago. All the goodies are long gone. Window full of pro-life, anti-abortion signs. A friend bought one of Tommy's personal frejuses. Chrome road with a rust hole an inch high and 5/8ths wide at the bottom at the rear of the seat tube right above the bb. Sooooo, the moral of the story is: don't cover the drain holes in the bb and use alot of "frame saver". We'll all say thank you. And thank you Tommy. Hope to post pics of him racing at Sommerville with listmasters assistance. ciao, John T.Pergolizzi N.Y.C.
P.S. Just got the dope on Mangano Cycles of Brooklyn, N.Y. ;The first importer of Dei, Legnano, and Campagnolo to the U.S. From the founders grandson. But thats another subject. Stay tunned.
