Nobody else has posted impressions of the Larz Anderson show, so I'll share a couple of the things I found noteworthy. Needless to say, I took no notes; there was a lot of neat stuff I'll forget to mention. -A neat old French touring bike (owned by Paul Lee, I think) that was in "as found" condition; I don't remember the maker, but among the parts were a set of Cyclo barcons , Roger Piel pedals, canvas panniers, and integrated lighting using some sort of Dynohub. -Sheldon Brown's Rochet, with a first generation Huret Allvit rear gear, triple T.A. Randonneur pattern rings mated with a 4 cog freewheel, Mafac Guidonette brake levers, and neat rack/fender mounting. -A brace of Campagnolo Paris-Roubiax equipped Bianchis, and a third with what someone said was a Vittoria Margharita (spelling??) gear. -Alan Schaeffer's 1970 Hetchins Vibrant Magnum Opus -A 1970's Raleigh Team Pro: 753 tubing, tutti Campagnolo, titanium chain, etc. What really impressed me about this bike was how clean the workmanship on the frame seemed to be-especially the seatstay attachment. Surely not the same workers that did the regular production Pro's,etc. -Out in the swap meet, among some unremarkable bikes, a Bates frame, Diadrant fork, Cantiflex tubes and all! Old, beat up, poor spraycan paint, but a Bates nonetheless! I think it had a lamp bracket and I don't think it had a gear hanger on the dropout; maybe pretty old. Almost walked right by it! -A restored and rather shiny Ephgrave with great components, including a Lytaloy dural 3 pin cottered crank, a S-A FC hub with 2 cogs and a Cyclo changer. It was my pleasure to meet listmembers Brian Blum and Eric Ellman, and thanks to Eric for the Wolber rim that was a mate to one I bought from another vendor. (That was my big purchase!) Also, I'd like to thank Mike Cone and John Perogolizzi for being so generous with their time and expertise; their advice kept my friend Dave Bittel from selling his Frejus track bike for far too little $$$$!
