It was DAF not DAP. DAF still makes trucks and also used to make cars in the Netherlands that were surprising advanced for their time. The car factory was bought out by Volvo. The S40 and V40 are made in the Dutch factory (and not in Sweden). All of the new CVT transmission cars now coming out are effectively developments of the original DAF Variomatic cars of the 60's. All have continuously variable transmissions. DAF also tried their hand at a bike with CVT that never panned out. Hennie Kuiper used to ride for DAF, which was a Dutch team.
