Let's see, the other rationalization slogan that I know (usually chanted in the direction of one's Significant Other) is:

"Remember, we can live in our car, but we can't drive our house, so we actually *need* this Maserati 12-cylinder BiTurbo Jubilee Edition with the seven option packages and custom paint to replace the old minivan."

I think that we have parts stashes precisely *because* there is a very limited supply of the NOS stuff we "think" we might need in our lifetime to maintain our beloved steeds. Of course, some people may on occasion take that to extremes if they have any obsessive-compulsive tendencies! Probably no one on this list, though, right? ;-)
