Mark,

Others may have more details, but here is what I know:

"Modern" Campy Italian-threaded cup-and-cone BBs used to be 109 mm axles, marked 70SS. These BBs fit Victory, Chorus, Croce, Record. I used to run C-Rec BBs with Croce, Chorus and Victory cranks. (Athena BBs were longer and usually had black, not silver, spindles. Victory and 1st generation Chorus BBs (and hubs?) were identical.)

Later, they added 2 mm to the BBs to accommodate "modern" frames with fat chainstays. Q-factor be damned.

I suddenly realize how old I am getting - modern to me is "post-NR" and pre- all the new cartridge bearing stuff.

BTW, I still feel that the BBs were one of Campy's best products. They last forever. I don't know of better cup-and-cone BBs anywhere. If they had been available in the late 1940s, Herse and Singer might never have developed their proprietary BBs.
