Grant,

As long as everyone is saying "me too" I'll add this. Pretty much ANY framebuilder probably rode his/her own frames early (or during all) of their career. I built my first frame for myself in 1974. Since that time I have built over 30 frames for myself of every type imaginable. Still to be completed or started are a triplet, a track tandem, a racing trike with "vibrant" stays and maybe 650c wheels, the "AeroTour", several more replica frames, etc. There are LOTS of special frames I made for myself that are out there somewhere in the possesion of someone. I know of several; but the majority are still "at large".

Peter Johnson also famously rode his own incredable designs and creations; I believe to a Jr. Nat Championship or something. Many framebuilders start out as racers. Needless to say, the first guinea......I mean test pilot, is almost always the mad scientist themselves. I would imagine the rest of the framebuilders are from the touring camp and began the same process on their tourers.

One might want to take note of this "subtle" differance between Fast Eddy riding frames with his name on them and an "actual" framebuilder doing the same. Eddy didn't build his own frames. Duh! I suppose if I was as awsome as EM I wouldn't have to build my own frames either.
