This is a complete and total rule of thumb, so take it with a grain of salt. Under a certain size, frames tend to be oversquare, over a certain size, they tend to be undersquare. I'm sure there are exceptions, but the frames I've seen that were "square" were around 56 cm. This refers to "off the rack" frames. Custom frames are a different kettle.
