Subject: [CR]Introduction/questio vicini

Hi Listmembers,

i've been reading along the list for a couple of weeks now and also contributed sometimes, so i thought it's about time to introduce myself.

i have been interested in vintage bikes for a couple of years now, even started riding/training on my fathers bikes, a early fifties Girardengo -unfortunately slightly bent, rusty, poor quality repaint and no original bits survived- an an early 80's Gianni Motta with Dura Ace EX/600 mix (heaven help me if he ever finds out how often i 'borrowed' his bikes...) These two frames still live in my garage. over the years i also aquired a very few vintage parts, but i don't consider myself a collector. I just cant stop myself when i find a box of NOS Modolo Superprestige brakes or a brand new SR stem in some dusty corner of a bikeshop...

i race a bit on club level and very seldomly i attend a "C-Klasse" (lowest amateur class here in Germany) amateur race or a century or marathon, preferably when there are mountains involved. For that i use off-topic-lightweight stuff from Principia, Rocky Mountain and (soon) Scott.

yesterday i aquired my first real collectors item, a Vicini. Pictures on http://www.mappel.de

it is a Vicini, equipped with Campa Valentino, Weinmann brakes and "Sheffield Sprint" pedals. the tyres are "Liontires GT30", cheap training material, i guess. Handlebar/Stem are 3TTT, Saddle is Selle Italia "Grand Prix Prof" On qick inspection i couldn't find a frame Nr. It has the size (56) on the saddle lug. Frame details are similar to the one on http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Vicini.htm

Thats my question: - could you help me date that bicycle? - do you think the equipment is authentic? is the paint job authentic? - how can i find out what tubing it is?

any help appreciated
