My FIR catalogues are buried. I'll try to find them this week-end. I've ridden FIR's for years and like them. The Bike Nook in San Francisco used to carry them; perhaps still do. He built my Hi-Lows for me. Tell him Richard with the Hi-Lows in Chicago says Hell-o. Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois "Thomas R. Adams, Jr." <kctommy@msn.com> wrote:A pair of pretty FIR rims have come into my possession. They are all satin silver, double walled, single eyeleted, marked "EL 19" and "Evoluzione", "Qualita" and "Sicurezza". I persume that the first item is the model name, and the next three words are marketing terms.

Two main questions arise. What is the age of these rims? I'm pondering what era of bike they would be most appropriate for.

The second question is whether anyone knows the effective rim diameter of these Firs? I've checked the Mavic web page and Damon Rinyard's excellent site, and neither has these rims listed in their data base. They are a bit wider and taller in cross section than that Mavic G40s I have available for comparison, although the weight seems very similar.

Thanks for the info! Don't forget the Monson Mass show this weekend.

Tom Adams, no riding this weekend after 6 inches of snow in Shrewsbury NJ
