Beautifully said! I often lament my favorite artists forays into new styles, such as John Coltrane leaving the lyricism and beautiful tone he was known for to embrace a less tonal and, to my ear, less musical approach, but this was just what took him from the status of a very good musician to the Jazz immortal he is now regarded as.
I even like the Cinneli parts being carped about (as well as their Frog stem) on the list right now. No accounting for tastes as someone once said.
