You guys are a bunch of wimps, what with your "gears" and "pneumatic tires" and "safety frames" and all ... I say, if it can't be made out of wrought iron, it's not worth mounting. How's the village blacksmith gonna fix your Ultegra when you've wheeled 23 miles outside of city limits?

Uh, speaking of cutoff time, I reckon it's coming for Dale's patience, so veering briefly back on topic:

As an addenda to the three-speed thread, I just finished building up a 60s/70s(?) Torpado (small, 53 cm CTC) as a three-speed with bits from the parts bin -- the color's approximately 1967 Pontiac Bonneville olive green, with chrome headlugs & ends, Columbus butted tubes (inverted gold triangle, stamped dropouts w/o derailleur hanger -- perfect for 3sp/single/fixed). I bought a Sturmey-Archer hub laced to a grey ano rim on eBay a year or so back; the front is a 1st gen Phil on a Mavic Open 4 CD; Michelin tires; TA crank on Phil BB; Lyotard pedals; Atax stem w/Falcon-aka-Priest bars; Dia-Compe center-pulls and levers; Campy seatpost; Brooks Team Pro -- may be replaced w/B-17; Zefal fenders. It's cute; might need to replace the bars w/ something shallower, like DH risers; I'll try and get some pics up soon ....

I'm working on putting together a gallery of my bikes (thusfar: 2001 Riv; 199? Team Miyata; 196? Allegro Special; 19?? Torpado; 2001 KHS softail cyclocross (commuter); Morgul-Bismark (ControlTech-built) MTB (deep purple powdercoat ;-); plus some odds and ends.
