Subject: [CR]Viking Severn Valley frame for sale

This is a frame I’m really reluctant to part with, especially as it is identical to the one I lusted after 40 years ago in my local bike shop window. Alas, 23 inches is a tad too big for me.

The Severn Valley was the top of the Viking range from around 1956 to the late 1960s. According to my Viking catalogues, the wrapover seat cluster puts this frame as being made in 1962/63. I have a Cycling test report from 1963 showing an identical model. The enamelling has obscured part of the frame number but I am fairly certain it is 148429. Also stamped A72 on the seat lug. The main dimensions are 23 inch from BB centre to top of toptube. 22 .5 inch c to c toptube. 73 degree parallel angles. 41 inch wheelbase and 120mm rear end spacing. Everything is original with no sign of repair work under the paint. Original Cyclo fork ends, and a pretty set of Nervex pro lugs and scalloped wrapover seat cluster.

This is a splendid example which although it has been built up since a complete restoration, it has not been ridden. Finished in a polychromatic light blue with cream enamel headtube and all the correct transfers including the period 531 transfer. The blue is stunning and perfect with just a few tiny nicks under where I put gear levers, wheels etc. I have a feeling that the cream on the headtube may be the original enamel as the headbadge rivets look original. Braze-ons are all as original spec and consist of top tube brake eyelets, bottom bracket tunnels for both front and rear gears, chainstay stop, down tube gear lever stop and rear brake bridge for centrepull. I have plenty of Viking catalogues etc which I will Xerox for the new owner.

Offers around 500 dollars to include shipping from the UK.

I have put pictures on my Yahoo site (Bikepacker2001) which should be accessible from this link. If you need other info or pictures, let me know.
