Apologies if I'm spoiling this for anyone (I won't mention the number...), but there's a Rene Herse on ebay, the demountable model. Looking at the photos, the shift levers are mounted on the seat tube below the stays. For the rear, the right shifter has the cable running to a boss on the seat stay ~5" above the dropout, with housing running to the derailer.

*Questions: Now for the front, does the cable go down the seat tube to a boss and then housing to the front derailer?

How long is this section of housing?

Was this a R.H. modification to use housing or a standard Huret derailer?

And for those of you who have ridden these, is it difficult to get used to the shift lever location?

Was there a disconnect for the rear brake cable?
