Pete;
      #14 refers to the bar only. Steel w/ its curve beguiling right at the exit of the stem. Stamped "14" at the end by where the plug goes. I forget which side.Often the last 3/4 to 1 inch was cut off so as not to be a knee slammer when jumping hard off the banks; so your # might be MIA. I have heard that Cinelli steel bars made for Schwinn Paramounts were not "engraved" at the top. There is also a #18 (straighter at the immediate exit from the stem and a 3rd: #19? Steel stem in 3 versions varying in degree of drop. Look in the Cinelli catalogue for photos. One is almost parallel to the top tube, like a road stem. The other end of the scale is an extreme drop; to get the sprinter wayyyyyyyy down. And there was one in-between. The last two of these would have been used slammed down to the headset locknut. And keep those wheels w/ your Frejus. ciao, JohnT.Pergolizzi LaJolla, Ca.

> My 1975 Schwinn catalog says that the Paramount track bike was equipped with steel Cinelli #14 stem and bars--and they are darn good-looking! Is there any available reference (preferably on-line) that shows/describes the #14 stem and bars? How can one tell by looking at a stem and bar set if they are the #14 model? Is the number 14 stamped on the stem or bars somewhere? Does anyone have such a stem or bars or both that they would like to sell (or trade for a vintage 1963 pair of track wheels with high-flange F.B. hubs, stainless spokes, and Mavic(?) rims (these wheels were OEM on my non-Campy-equipped 1963 Frejus track bike))?
