HI burl, You might want to try Marchese Racing. Paul Marchese makes those awesome speed skates that most of the Olympians wear. Last I talked with him, he had started making cycling shoes. The pair he showed me were unbelievable with carbon fiber custom molded platforms. Besides, he's a great guy and good friend, and rides Mezzatesta frames (in fact, his whole family rides on Mezzatesta's). That alone tells you the guy has great taste and an eye for precision and beauty. Really, his products are awesome (way beyond Lamson's). Hope this helps.
