Subject: [CR]Important message to CR list members

Dear CR list members:

Generally speaking, we have been on pretty good behavior this recent months. But as soon as I start to relax, issues pop up and threaten my peace... So I must give the somewhat routine but ever important warnings:

First, PLEASE read the doggone rules!! They are here; CR list rules. I also must remind you that this is a privately owned list. It is not a democracy; I am interested in your opinions but you do not have a real "vote." If you are unsure of the appropriateness of a post or topic, ask me first please. I am a benevolent dictator.

It may surprise you but I average 30 minutes or more per day writing requests to members, requesting compliance with the rules.

The main offenses are: - failing to use proper sign off (name & town!) - being off topic - not including a price with For Sale items - listing For Sale items more than once. - counterattacking persons who you think zinged you.

This last item deserves more comment. Let me quote the rules here;

" Courteous exchanges only. The list is not intended as a debate forum; in fact, it is not intended to be a "chat list" at all, but one in which every post contributes to the communal knowledge base. Passionate disagreements may not be indulged in on-list. If a member has a problem with the list, please communicate with the list manger and not the whole group. "

I think that says it pretty clearly.. If you are convinced that someone has zinged you, write to me first, not the whole list! If you do counter attack, you then place your own membership in jeopardy. "He hit me first" didn't cut it with your momma and it doesn't cut it with me!

Finally PLEASE try to avoid the off topic musings and jokes. The abuse in this way has grown of late. It adds to the burden of e-mail volume which is unfair to all of us. I will be much more aggressive in enforcing this problem from this point on.

After all that, I would like to thank the huge majority if you who abide by the rules and are great "list citizens!"

Thanks Dale
