Like Rodd, I too frequent the same junk bike store here in Ottawa - Burt's - and just last week picked up a wheelset with Mavic Montlery rims for a good price ($60.00), along with Chrstophe toe-clips ($2.00), a Brooks B5N ($15.00), Mavic Racer calipers and all the misc. fittings ($10.00), etc. etc.. All need some work but that for me is half the fun. Burt isn't in it for the big-bucks - although he charges considerably more for second-hand MTBs - he likes to talk bikes and usually has something that you might need hidden in a box in the basement. Now if anyone needs 28hole rims he has some hanging up down there.

I have also been helped in some of my projects by various CR and iBOB list-members - the Jack Taylor frame, pics. of which I posted to the list last night, I got for US$50.00 from an iBOB - similarly the 1970 PX10E cost me CDN $110.00 - frame and many of its original parts. In other cases, some CR listers have very kindly offered me parts for the cost of postage. I hope that some day I can return the favours.

There are therefore plenty of other routes than E-Bay - sometimes it takes a little bit more digging (as an archaeologist I love that anyway), patience, and good fortune.
