Gang,

This reminds me of the article in Bicycle Guide about Albert Eisentraut. Another guy with his mojo working, and, as he said, "balancing his checkbook with mirrors". He wondered aloud about what was so romantic raising a family on something like 12K a year, even in the late 80's (I think) that's poverty.

On the Nagasawa thread, those aren't cast drop outs on the road frame, just on the track.
