Not sure if these qualify for the "best", but these were the most expensive and esoteric Italian clusters:

Regina Titanio (all Ti cogs) & Regina Titall (Ti and Al cogs). I believe the Titanio was avail. in the mid '70s. Regina introduced its 7 spd. Titall in 1978. Bet you guys didn't remember that 7spd. was avail. that early from Regina :-)
