I think choice of fixed gearing is a spin thing. Anything below a 69" gear feels like I'm spinning out. My legs feel more comfortable with a 71" gear (47x18), the 72 degree seat angle of my Viking, and a Vitus seatpost with generous setback. Love those gentle angles with a fixed. I can grab the tops, push back on the saddle, and power my way up a grade with a slow spin. This works even with a saddlebag touring load (2 liters of water, extra clothes, tools, munchies). I also ride with a full complement of brakes as my area is blessed with some fine downhills. That flip-flop comes in handy. Craig Montgomery Tucson
