With the three cogs on the drive side the chain line is not optimal, but this wheels spends most of it's time on a Della Santa longer chain stay road bike, set up for fixed riding.

When on a Track specific bike there is more noise, but it is really nice for the track ( or in our case - Mellowdrom) workouts.

How did the Sanshin hub affect chainline? That would be really cool for track workouts. I've never seen one.

FWIW, gearing for the Elite (Nat'l level) track races generally ranges from about 90 to 96 depending on the event and the rider. I generally ride a 48x14 for most mass start races, I'll go a little bigger for pursuit, a little smaller for madison.

Gearing is really a function of the track, the wind conditions, and who's there...
