One of these lurking around out there? 1972-1976 Raleigh Gran Sport blue/white with Reynolds 531 f/f, around a 23" frame in decent condition? I have always wanted one, I don't know why, they just look snazzy. Contact off list. Thanks,

Wes Miller La Quinta CA

Wes,

I became a fan myself. The bikes are light (stock 23 lbs) and have some chrome too but no hanger for a deraailleur (it bolts onto a plate). Sue (my sweetie) and I have one each both with Sturmey Archer 7 speeds (mine with alloy elite drum brakes front and rear) which looks nice with the lack of a hanger.

We selected the bike with this in mind but it's alos a fine derraileur machine. I did a hilly century two weeks ago on mine. Very comfortable too.

Anyway we have 8 Gran Sports in the store(personal and for sale), same model and generation. I have one rough looker (somewhere lost it in th shop) that definitely needs paint and TLC everywhere if I can find it.

I also have 2 White (with blue panels) in 57 cm (next size up 59)/ 22.5 inch c-t bikes I bought to do the Sturmey conversion but a mint blue one showed up in my size before I could start the project so I used that.

Anyway I'll have to look at the bikes but would certainly sell them for what I have in them ( $250.00) plus shipping as is.

We are fussy about bikes. They may need an odd part and some general service but they are mostly shop worn in good condition with normal wear and tear, not pristine.

Given time I would also consider restoring them to original condition (original was the secondary plan) or any step in between but this would increase cost considerably.

They are in a blocked in part of our store (the whole store seems like this) but if the interest and price seems realistic for you I would be glad to to inspect them and even supply photos if there is serious interest.

Please understand as whether I sell them as is or with lots of fresh parts and labor at a much higher price these bikes will not be sold above actual cost and therefore are not revenue producers. We are extremely backlogged with pre committed work that will increase greatly very soon. I would like to find a good home with someone who appreciated the bike(s) but I don't have time to chase down specifics and other information (photos) unless there is realistic chance of sale. We could easily sell them locally with time to service them.

I hope I don' t come off too negative or elitist. I'm just very busy and overworked at the moment.

Thank you for your interest and good luck with your search. Also if you can paint or have access to good cheap paint the rusty looking one(57 also) would be $50.00 plus shipping (missing some parts?) but the Stronglight 93 Crank should be worth double that polished up on Ebay I suspect. I must find that bike.

Call me if you have interest. Thanks for keeping the flame alive,
