Perhaps other CR members can correct me, but I thought that the Sedisport chain was a "modern" (not classic) chain for 7spd freewheels and not a very stiff.

I wonder if a Regina Oro chain may suit your needs a little better... I use the Regina America hollow pin chain on my '83 Raleigh Racing USA with a SR rear, 54-43, and 13-21 Regina CX freewheel. I get no slippage, grinding, or problems with my current setup.
