Be real careful with those GB bars and anyone else's stems. They have a 1" center diameter, which is significantly smaller than most other makes of high quality aluminum stems. For some reason, Raleigh used 3TTT stems and GB handlebars on Pros for several years in the '70s. My track bike ran for many years this way, though the ears of the stem pulled right together and the nutted pinch bolt visibly bent from the misalignment. A Pro I recently picked up has a nice crack across the stem due to the amount that it had to collapse to grip the bar. Not sure why they did that, though those engraved GB bars are really neat.

From: Donald Gillies <gillies@cs.ubc.ca> "I am now a proud owner of _two_ raleigh internationals, 23.5 frames. One is probably a 1974, and one is probably a 1975 or 1976. <snip>

Hi Don, <snip>
regarding the GB stem: keep looking?? Until you find the right stem, I wouldn't feel bad about using a GB stem with a regular hex bolt, or maybe a nice old TTT Record stem. <snip> good luck, Steve Kurt Peoria, IL
