Richard Cielec asked:

"The several postings in the archives were favourable. Yet, how does the ride compare to tubulars or good, high pressure clinchers?"

I've got TUFOs (the regular tubulars) on a couple of my bikes. I haven't seen any TUFOs that have that "vintage" look and I don't think the ride is quite as good as a top end Vittoria clincher, but TUFO has an advantage that usually isn't mentioned in reviews or posts. Because of their construction (vulcanized somehow, I believe), you can use about an ounce (weight, not volume) of their latex sealant and be protected against small punctures. I was skeptical until I noticed what appeared to be some glue on the tread of one of my tires. It turned out to be a 1mm cut that had been sealed without my even knowing it. I have no idea when I got the puncture or how long I'd ridden on the sealed tire. The sealant IS a mess to get in the tire, but worth the trouble.
