Are these 6 speed hyperglides equally durable and as long lasting as Regina extra freewheels?(I need that 28 -which I guess pushes the SR in the rear to a max)and I want to keep my SR rear derailler (some things are sacred) So is a change of chain required? Can I still as a second step, if necessary, also gear down the SR chainrings in the front from the 53/42 to a 50/28 with a switch from the SR to the TA Cyclotouriste crankset as suggested.

At the risk of everyone wearing cloves of garlic around their necks when I approach:

My bikes are riders. I suppose I might let authenticity interfere with rideability for a really significant bike, but I don't have one of those. My two Colnagos both have 14-28 6-speed Shimano hyperglide freewheels and PC48 chains. One has NR and the other SR derailleurs. Both shift very nicely, far better than any of the period components I've seen.
