Subject: [CR]Vintage bike style starts the"Tour de Guilford!"

Greensboro, NC For immediate release:

May 4, 2003

The Cirque du Cyclisme's Sunday morning ride, the "Tour de Guilford", will be lead from Lewis Recreation Center by the old and the new! Two distinct tiers of riders will be the staged at the start of this years event.

The first row will be made up of vintage bike fans, clad in the classic attire of bygone eras.. Just for fun, expect leather "hair net" helmets (go gently, as these are not much good in a crash!), wool period jerseys, toe clips & straps, beautiful old hand made bikes, and spare tires wrapped like bandoliers around the riders chests!

The second wave will be made up of bike riders from the Greensboro Velo Club, the organizing club for this event. These cyclists will be all tricked out in their modern "kit" (team clothing) with their modern super light bikes and clipless pedals etc.

Behind these parading folk will come the hundred or more cyclists from around NC and beyond, who will be out for a pleasant ride in the pastoral countryside surrounding Greensboro. A mountain bike group will explore the area trails and the road riders may choose from 25, 35 or 63 mile loops, returning to the recreation center for food, drink, a swap meet and bike show and, most of all, great camaraderie!
