Subject: [CR]ill fitting 60s bikes and paramount find

I happened on a Paramount that the owner is thinking of selling, he hung it up in his garage 25years ago and left it to the unmerciful humidity we have in this area , , my first observation was that the set-up of this bike is typical of what a lot of people rode and raced on back then. . this bike is MY SIZE, a 23" frame in which the owner is over 6ft tall . It is set it up with 175mm cranks, and a 13cm stem with the seat post maxed out , , the bike brought up images of a lot of people on ill fitting bikes back then , , you bought what was available and compensated with the stems etc. .

Anyway , , he had raced the bike in the 60s, and then turned it over to his teenaged son , , ,the components are all in poor, or worn out condition, and the paint has flaked off around the DT cable guides, and other places,( I'll take scratches and oxidized paint any time, but can't abide the large sections of flaked off paint) , he turned down my offer which was based on restoring the frame, stating that he would just soon restore it himself if he couldn,t get more money . (he plansto take up riding again in his retirement ), , I think I will tactfully suggest that he should take that money , instead, and look for a Paramount that fits him and is ready to ride, , or a new bike to do the same , , any thoughts ? ?? should I pursue this?
