A few years ago I converted a NR rear derailleur into a long cage der. I'll admit it was probably a pure vanity conversion because I wanted a NR derailleur instead of anything else. Anyway, I borrowed the long cage from a Campy Rally r. der. and installed it on the NR derailleur. I found out that springs on NOS NR derailleurs are incredibly tight. It worked adequately.
