Howard,

I have such a deraiiler conversion on the 1968 Hetchins mixte bike that will be at Hetchins Heavan tomorrow. I will have someone take a picture for you. It's not exactly graceful as you might expect. I have another conversion done by an unknown person that is considerably nicer. It's on my Hetchins Millinium which will be at Hetchins Heavan tomorrow also. That one will be of interest to you I'm sure.

I would also like to know if someone is making or will make some conversion plates for NR and Record-C and later non indexing derailliers. I could use a few. I can make them myself, but God knows I'm WAY PAST my eyebrows in work to do.

I picked up another American classic custom frame today from a local bike shop. It was built by Rob Roberson. He's a local builder who has been around San Diego for a LONG time. Besides building his own frames on a small scale, he worked for Masi in 1979, worked for Ibis, Hooker Racing, and now is working with Joe Bell as a painter. The article that appeared in one of the bike mags recently that featured Joe Bell as painter shows a Roberson custom seat stay cap as one of the photos. This bike was built quite a while ago and features the Masi twin plate fork crown, Fischer BB shell, and DuBois Nervex lugs. Unfortunately it does not have the custom cap treatment. It has a nice stainless steel "R" brazed to the head tube. Needs paint, got the whole bike for $300 which included NR cranks and pedals, brakes, hubs, HS and BB. The other parts are Shimano. 49cm c-t, 52cm tt, exactly my size.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA Desperately seeking someone to make some conversions for Canpag derailliers.
