In 1971 I fitted a an early 60's Schwinn Superior with an allow moustache bar for touring. I do not remember for sure who made the bar... but another bicycle I built from the frame up at same time has recently returned to me. My memory was pleasanty jogged by the surprising handle bar. It has a leather clad Nitto Olympiad bar... I remember ordering bars for both bicycles (I think from the same distributor) at the same time. Therefore it is very possible that the moustache bar for the old Superior was also a Nitto (how long has Nitto been making a moustache?). Anyway... The moustache equipped (along with other componentry re-fitting) Superior was my favorite touring bicycle of all time.. I wish I still had it. While the frame was possibly the most comfortable ride I every owned, the moustache bars were the most comfortable handle bar I ever put on a bicycle. I am currently building a touring bicycle with a 70cm wheel setup on rather off road geometry that will be equipped with a Nitto moustache bar.

I've been hearing some good things about them recently and may need to change out some bars on a tourer. According to the latest Rivendell catalog, they are old enough to be well within our time frame.
