It is always a pleasure to read Brian's insights, thoughts, observations and prospectives whether about the Hetchins, Masi, Mario, framebuilding or the topic of the day There is one thing I would like to clear up and that is Brian’s quote in his signoff, “Let’s blow this taco stand.” As with many things that have been said over the years by various folks the context has somewhat changed when repeated by others over the course of time. It just so happens that I was there at the very time this quote was first uttered, although it has changed over the years to its present phase. It was back in 1968 when I was in the Navy in Long Beach, CA. Some friends and I pulled what we call a Vampire Liberty. This is when you give blood for dollars then everyone pools their money together to buy beer or other alcoholic beverages and if anything is leftover some food as well. The lot of us were from the east coast and we drank all that we had bought and then hit a taco stand which none of us had ever experienced before being from the east. You have to remember we were a pint low on blood. After our meal we stood up and walked towards the car and then Paul “The Lizard” Kawalski said “I think I’ll blow this taco while I’m still standing” and he did. Anyway, now you know the rest of the story.

Classic content-the 197? Something Rauler that I purchased from a fellow list member is now near complete, just waiting on brakes. Although not period correct as it is a parts hanger until I find a Campagnolo grouppo, will have it at the Cirque.
