Coming in from the Saturday morning ride on my H.R. Morris, I noticed that the adjustable cup on the bottom bracket had loosened. Closer inspection revealed that the fixed cup was not seated evenly against the bottom bracket edge. Ray Etherton was with me and he suggested we repair this right away, even though it meant that we would be late to the presentations. We both hoped there was no serious damage. We brought the bike to Dale's shop and Charles, one of the technicians in the shop, was kind enough to help. Charles recognized the problem right away. He re-faced the bottom bracket and chased out the threads. We noticed that the TA spindle was damaged from running loose. Charles then searched through the drawers of odd spares at the shop and found a lightly used Campagnolo spindle that would fit. We had to assemble the bb several times to find a workable combination of parts. Fortunately we succeeded. I'm sure many of you remember how much time it takes to mix and match parts. I offered to pay Charles for the time and parts but he refused payment, saying, "You're guests of the Cirque down here and I'm sure that Dale wouldn't want you to pay anything for this." He suggested that he and Dale would consider themselves paid if we helped the next CR listmember who has a problem. Well, I owe (someone) one. Thank you, Dale and Charles.

Dale, I know how much work it is to put on events and I am grateful for all of the efforts you put forth to make this wonderful weekend possible.
