Dale, let me feed the discussion a little more. We have the latest "history" from Flash' website describing the riveted flat stock stack which was sawed and filed method of lug fabrication. Then in Hetchins catalog for 1956 there are two ECs one is "pattern lugs" the other "pressed steel" lugs. The "pattern lugs" cost more. AND I wonder if pattern lugs refers to the method Flash discovered. We dont know. In 1962 the EC is still available two ways "cast" or "pressed" - with cast being the more expensive.
When you used the term "mid term" were you talking about the different Periods (years) the EC was being made or were you talking about a step in the process of manufacture? It doesnt look like there was a progression from one process to the other, chronologically speaking, at least with the EC.
