So if you actually ride it, it suddenly goes down a $1,000 in value? Maybe that is my problem, I prefer to ride my vintage road bikes, at least once or twice a year. Sure, there are some bikes that I am not going to ride, such as the 41 Track Paramount with the wood rims. But the 72 and 73 Paramounts were the highest volume of all the vintage Paramounts so riding one is hardly sacrilege. I would pay a premium for an unridden bike only because it was unspoiled and I didn't need to have anything restored, not to keep an otherwise 'unridden' bike in that state.
Call me crazy, but with the exceptions of the really old and really impossible to replace parts, etc. bikes, they are meant to be ridden. Carefully, on nice days, and not as a daily rider, but ridden nonetheless.
Just my 2cents worth, and yes, I would pay a premium on anything Richard Sachs worked on or restored.
