Subject: [CR]NOS Paramount on ebay

My completely subjective opinion is..no way that bike was worth that much money.

But that's irrelevent isn't it? Since someone else clearly thought it was worth the money.

The issue, it seems to me, is this. If someone rides that Paramount enough so that it could never again be passed off as NOS, it won't be worth much more than a grand, and that's being generous. That's the market talking now, not just my personal opinion. And that Paramount will likely *never* be worth more than about a grand, as a clean, used bike. There were too many of them made for it to be otherwise, I suspect.

On the other hand, (egoboo incoming) I have here a beautiful Masi Special, restored to perfect, correct, like-new condition by Brian Baylis (egoboo landed) and built up period-correct by moi, with clean/used and NOS parts. I've ridden this bicycle a few hundred miles already. It needs a good cleaning at the moment, but once it's cleaned up, it will look like-new again. And it will continue to be worth as much, or more, than I have in it. Which is quite a bit, I might add.

This is why it seems a little strange to me for someone to pay so much over market for NOS...but, as is always the case, there's no accounting for taste--mine, or anyone else's.
