I emailed Joe soon after I read the initial email he sent announcing the news of Chris' passing. I was quite shocked. I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said. It seems like I just got an email not long ago from Chris, but it always seems that way after the fact. Just the occasional dropping of emails for short exchanges back and forth. Very enjoyable conversations. I remember after thinking hard how we first began exchanging emails. Two occasions stand out. I was very new to the list and Chris knew a great deal and shared a great deal of info with me on a newbie question. I look back and laugh because the bike was a bike boom junker that began my whole interest in these classics! The question was a typical newbie-know-nothing...but Chris didn't treat it that way. He instead patiently explained things and discussed the classic aspect of importance of the bike boom...etc. Very informative, very patient. By the time he finished I didn't feel like such a jerk. We also had a common element that started our email exchanges on another occasion back in the early day. I wore wool army socks for winter and cool weather riding. Chris got a few pairs from me to wear also. It's always sad when we lose a friend. I don't really have too many other words to say on how it feels. I wish his family warm wishes and prayers. I hope Chris didn't have much discomfort and wish him peace.
