Or the other way of saying it: Align the tire label with the valve stem. And always mounting tires with the labels on the right (drive) side of the bike. (With certain OT dirt tires being the exception.) But this isn't anal, because its really helpful in finding/diagnosing the cause of flat tires. But you already knew that. Also, I am wary of a wheel built when I find the valve stem hole in the middle of a cluster of crossed spokes instead of between them. You wonder where else the builder's attention to detail/proficiency was lacking.
