Stuart,

Oscar Egg was one of the very first cycling superstars. He was born in Switzerland and passed away when living in the South of France. He set numerous world records, most notably multiple hour and kilo records back in the 1910's and 1920's. He also won a number of major 6-day races including New York and Chicago. He later sponsored a number of pro cycling teams and owned the Super Champion company. His company made the Super Champion derailleurs that were so successful in the 30's and 40's; so your bike would most definitely need a super record derailleur system.
