Maybe I am working on a real blonde moment, or just plain naive, but I don't see how you lose here. If the buyer gives you a check, you cash it. If it clears, then mail off the merchandise and the balance. If not, then you still have your merchandise and all you are out is the aggravation of having to relist the item(s)
