Subject: [CR]A Belgian slant

Seeing as there has been some interest in things Belgian as relating to cycling, I would like to point that there is a Belgian neighborhood in Detroit along Cadieux road. At 4300 Cadieux Rd. is the Cadieux Cafe. This the center for a lot of cycling activity in the Detroit area. Several rides and races begin and end right in front of the place. There are old cycling jerseys hanging on the walls inside and a lot of bicyclists hang out there. It is more European pub than bar and usually there seem to be more women and children there than men. There is also a uniquely Belgian activity called Feather Bowling that goes on there. These are the only Feather Bowling alleys in the U. S. Several of the Michigan area list members have met there on an informal basis and the plan is to make it happen more regularly and invite other list members. Those who might like to attend to write either Jimmy Katynski, Mark Agree, or myself and we'll set a date for the next time we would like to get together. This is planned as an occasional very informal Sunday afternoon of bicycle talk, good Belgian food, a little beer and bullshit, and perhaps Feather Bowling and a few parts swapped in the parking lot. If you are interested, drop one of us a line...we'll probably be doing it again soon.
