Here is my favorite photo of Rebecca Twigg. It was taken by Annie Liebowitz for Vanity Fair. The tiny url that I posted last night doesn't seem to be working. Try this one:

One of my recollections of Rebecca Twigg was that one time she showed up at our regular Wednesday night training race at the Nassau Coliseum. She lived on the West coast and was visiting Leonard Harvey Nitz. Harvey lived in New York for several years and was a regular at the local races. Needless to say, I have quite a few stories to tell about Harvey... Anyway he brought Rebecca to the race. At that time they ran all categories together in one big field.

It was great to watch her ride in real life. She was totally comfortable in a very fast and aggressive race. In the last few laps a break finally stuck but Rebecca didn't get in it. In the field sprint for the last few remaining places in came down to Rebecca and my training partner Jim Lehane. I crossed the line forth so I had a ring side seat... Jim was a very accomplished cat 2 who won several medals in the state championships; including a gold in the pursuit, which was Rebecca's specialty. Jim found very little consolation in having lost a very close sprint to a World Champion.

Later, when we all went out for pizza, I noticed that Jim was a little off his game when he attempted to flirt with Rebecca.
