Triple chrome is a 3-step plating process : brass (fills holes), nickel (shiny chrome look), and chrome (keeps nickel from tarnishing, i believe). A chrome-look kit is a 1-step process (mostly nickel) that is perfect for plating bolts and small parts, or for touching up inconspicuous areas with light rust (after rust removal, of course), such as toe clips or maybe pedals. these kits do not have the same tint as regular chrome and so are only good for parts that are not adjacent to regular chromed parts.

The nice thing about these kits is that they don't qualify as toxic waste / hazardous materials. That's a significant advantage. Caswell also sells chrome-stripping materials on that web site. Or, you could get the parts stripped professionally at any chrome shop.
