Isn't that the near scratchproof finish? I was looking for one of the Vent Noirs not long ago - beautiful bikes. Not finding my size I, ultimately settled for an american masi 1 /1/2 years ago.I do mean settled too- Being a newbie I was familiar with the AD but not Masi and had to look Masi up on Sheldon's site to be reassured it was a good make! I still admire the A-D and related Puchs in Larry Black's College Park Shop. Congradulations!

If you have any pics to share I sure would like to see them. BTW If you haven't noticed Sheldon's site discusses A-D in some detail, including the durable finish.

I just dug a lovely little bike out of 25 years of basement storage to save it being converted to a "Comfort Bike". It is a late '70s Austro-Daimler Vent Noir II in what the original owner told me is a "smoked chrome" finish. Gorgeous lugs. I know very little about German bikes and would appreciate any input folks might give on or off list. Thanks all, Tom Sanders Lansing, Mi
