Subject: [CR]Schwinn Super Record and Super 700 Tires

I have a pair of Schwinn 250 Super 700 (green label, 700x28) tires in use that have a nice ride and a really "fat" look to them. This thread prompted me to measure them. They are mounted on Mavic Module E2 rims, inflated to 90 psi (recommended on the sidewall) and measure 27mm in width with a 25.6 profile (height). It's the profile that intrigues me, as the tire seems quite "tall". I checked several other tires for comparison, but I don't have much in vintage clinchers mounted. Here's what I found:

Current 700x23 Michelin Axial Pro mounted on Mavic CXP33 rims at 110 psi = 24mm width x 22.4mm height.

Continental Sprinter 250 mounted on Mavic Record Du Monde De L'Heure rims at 120 psi = 23mm x 23mm

Clement Futurox (?) mounted on Fiamme red label at 120 psi = 22.4mm x 21mm

My question is, were these Schwinn tires above average in profile, or were all clinchers of the era similar?

I guess this is what happens when you have dental surgery and need some distraction. :)
