Not necessarily so... One wheelbuilding technique that I haven't seen on the 'net, in a book or video yet is the material Spence put onto spoke threads prior to building. He asked me not to share it with anyone and so I haven't. All these years later, I'm not aware of anyone else mentioning it. It does, IMHO, make a difference in the quality of the product. I've tried every other brand or type of spoke prep and always return to Spence's original because it holds up better over time. As Hugh Enox wrote in his note today about Spence, the guy *really* knew what he was doing. I have yet to see any wheels built better than his.
