Well Mitch, I think it's really pretty difficult to tell which model Gitane you have. I have a European market Gitane much as you describe from 1973. It has the same vertical drop outs, but has cut out lugs. It's all 531 db, came with period Campagnolo Record equipment, and is labeled " Racing Team." So many people called their Gitanes a Tour De France when in fact they were Service Course or Interclub models. Maybe that's how the LBS referred to them when they bought them. My brother still has his Service Course he bought in 1973, but to this day refers to it as his Tdf. It's pretty arcane business trying to determine the age and model of an old Gitane.
