Some thoughts: My Ephgrave from 1960 has never been repainted. With the decal applied the "right" way the Olympic rings form a seat tube band as they encircle the seat tube with "Ephgrave" crossing them. Makes more logical graphic sense than when the decal is applied the "wrong" way.
